Most Effective Joint Supplement for Dogs: Actistatin®

# 1 Joint Supplement for Isabella

When it comes to choosing a joint supplement for your dog it can be overwhelming. Most of the time you are just out there on your own trying this one or that one to see what will work best for your dog. That is exactly what happened to us. This can be highly frustrating.  And it can take a long time to sort out.

Over the last few years, I have tried many different joint supplements for dogs. I found either they were ineffective, or Isabella was not able to tolerate them for one reason or another. In some cases, I found both of these issues to be true! Inevitably, trial and error is sometimes part of the process. Hopefully, I can save you some time! Keep in mind that what works for one individual dog may not be effective for another. Also, it’s possible that one dog may tolerate a supplement/treatment, while another does not. Remember dogs are individuals!

I Finally Came Across the Most Effective Joint Supplement for Dogs!

Finally, just over a year ago now, I came across the most effective joint supplement for dogs, that had not been on my radar before! After all the investigating I had done to try to find something! I had never come across this one before! Isabella is 12 years old. So, you do the math of how long it took me to find the right one! About 4 years!

This is what happened and I am so happy that it did! One of our trusted vets told me about her personal experience with a joint supplement she uses with all her dogs.  She told me how well it was working for them!  Actistatin® was not something her clinic was even carrying.  Because she found it so effective she was sourcing it from outside of the clinic.

Why do I Need a Joint Supplement for my Dog?

1 in 6 dogs suffers from joint problems due to:

  • Injury
  • Disease (IVDD, Arthritis)
  • Genetics (IVDD)
  • Old age (senior dog)

All of these joint problems cause pain and mobility issues. They can also affect your dog’s sleep habits and mood!  Which affect you too. You know what I’m talking about. You are in tune with your Cherished Hound and how they are feeling. By the way, the average age of a senior dog is 8 years old, toy breeds 10-12 years, giant breeds 5-6 years. At some point in your dog’s life, they will need a joint supplement. And it can make a big difference!  You just need to find the right one for your dog!

Actistatin® Joint Supplement for Dogs

Actistatin® makes a large dog chew and a chew for small dogs. We use the small dog chews.  Isabella gets 2 per day. I like to feed them at mealtime, one at breakfast and the other with supper. Initially, when I started her on the supplement, 1 year ago, I purposefully gave them at mealtime. I did this to minimize any potential upset tummy issues she might experience. To my absolute delight, Isabella tolerated this supplement very well!  Most importantly it has been highly effective for her!

Other Things That Help Support Joint Health and Reduce Inflammation:

  1.  Bone Broth: contains chondroitin which is found in the cartilage of animals. Chondroitin, when combined with glucosamine, is even more effective. Bone broth is an excellent whole food to feed your dog and has many other health benefits in addition to joint support.  Check out my Instagram post @cherishedhound for all of them!

  3. Feed Foods that are Natural Anti-Inflamtory’s: such as blueberries, blackberries, turmeric, fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, tuna, and sardines, green leafy vegetables, such as spinach, kale, and collards.

    Hi Wendy,

I again want to thank you for turning us into the Actistatin. Our little Havanese has always had problems with her back end and when she ran hard it looked like her leg came out of the socket and then she would lump around for days and do nothing much because she was in pain even though the vets could find nothing wrong with her. After taking Actistaten this is completely disappeared she runs after our other dog with no issues with her back end at all thanks it really really worked.

Thanks for this post! My small dog is 10 now so I will start her on this supplement and am glad to have such a good recommendation!
It’s nice that it comes in the form of a chew, which she will view as treat. 🙂
